MLF Futsal Finals

History:

The MLF Men's Professional Division began in the winter of 2015 with its first exhibition season, featuring teams from across the nation including Mexico and Canada.

In 2016 the MLF ran its first real season with our finals taking place in San Jose California fielding 20 teams in the U.S. , and Mexico. Our semi and quarter finals presented four east and four west coast teams that battled for a chance at the MLF Cup. The final two teams were KnowEns Mexico and Boston's Safira. The end result was Safira winning the first MLF Cup in MLF history.

In 2017 the MLF held its first National Championships in Draper Utah. With over 26 teams participating in the national league, it came down to Detroits Waza Flo and the Portland City club who battled it out for the MLF Champions Cup. In the end it would Waza who walked away with the victory. This match had all the makings of a true championship, both teams fighting their way through the strong field of play to get to the final.

In 2017 the NAFF the governing body of the MLF, held it first annual International Cup Friendly, inviting the national teams from Mexico and Pakistan. These national teams competed against the NAFF Men's National Futsal Team. This first annual event will surely grow in 2018 as we promote the MLF Showcase Series to the world in the newly formed NAFF World Futsal League.

In 2017 the MLF-NAFF held the first annual NAFF Open Cup Championships, this events was open for any teams in North America who wanted to compete at the highest level but who were not MLF teams. This competition was a success, with some of the highest level of play taking place along side the MLF Pro divisions.

This first season for the MLF Women’s Pro in 2017 will operate as an exhibition season with a limited league schedule designed to promote and grow the league. As with any new product, the MLF must be creative and smart as to how it promotes this platform. The MLF feels the timing is right and the futsal community will get behind this venture.

In 2017 the MLF held its first Women's National Championships in Draper Utah. With over eight teams participating in the national league this was as great start, it came down to the Phoenix Falcons and the Portland City club who battled it out for the MLF Women's Champions Cup. In the end it would the Phoenix Falcons AZ, who walked away with the victory. This match had all the makings of a true championship, both teams fighting their way through the strong field of play to get to the final.  This event also established that women's futsal is on the rise.
